The Energy Policy Act of 2005 presents significant investment opportunities for participants in the electricity and gas industry, but also introduces major uncertainties that must be taken into account in decision-making. Many of the act's provisions will run into strong crosscurrents from stakeholder groups and societal trends. Companies must address four overarching strategic issues and ensure disciplined attention to the uncertainties to select strategies that create value in the post-EPAct environment.
