PARTNER, MANAGING DIRECTOR
Peter Hopper, partner and managing director, joined Strategic Decisions Group in 2010. With over 30 years of operating experience in a wide range of technology and manufacturing-based industries, Hopper has hands-on experience managing complex portfolios and working with large and medium sized companies in periods of fast growth and industry restructuring. He leads the firm’s Hong Kong office, which supports all of SDG’s global operations in Energy, Oil & Gas, Life Sciences and Education in Greater China and the region as a whole.
Hopper spent 28 years of his career with Philips Electronics, and as a member of the Philips Components Product Division Senior Management Team for nearly six years, he was instrumental in the divestment of many parts of the division in line with the corporate strategy. His most recent role was as CEO of Philips Mobile Display Systems, at that time the market leader in the supply of displays to the leading handset makers. The company helped transition the industry to the color displays we all take for granted now. As a result, he has the unique perspective of being able to apply the art and science of decision-making to the real world challenges facing CEO’s and senior management teams.
After leaving Philips Electronics, Hopper led a number of venture-backed companies in Asia before moving on to a two-year stint as Managing Director with CCMP Capital Asia, now Unitas Capital. During his tenure with CCMP, Hopper served on the board of a number of portfolio companies in which CCMP had invested, as well as supported the firm on all technology-related deal flow.
Hopper has an MBA from Manchester Business School and an undergraduate degree with honors in business studies from Northumbria University, UK. He is an active member of the Society of Decision Professionals, and is committed to promoting the art and science of quality decision-making in Greater China and the region as a while.
