A leading cable company was being courted by several major brands in telephony and high-speed data for partnership deals. The company’s board wanted help in finding answers to questions about potential partnerships, such as whether a deal would require the company to open its network. The board also wanted to determine if a “go-it-alone” strategy would be a better way to grow the business.
Working with the EVP for Business Development and Strategy, SDG conducted a rapid-paced strategy project to understand the tradeoffs, value, and risk of the various partnership alternatives relative to maintaining independence. We determined that an immediate move to capitalize on current partnership opportunities was more valuable than maintaining the flexibility to make the partnering decision later.
