For a major trucking company, SDG developed a growth strategy that effectively described a path to double the size of the business in five years. As part of this process, SDG initiated the effort with an environmental scan of the business process of moving goods through all existing channels and considered the possible trends for the future. We also assessed the company's main competitors in current and future markets and the impact technological changes could have on the transportation supply model.
To assess the client's current and future market environment, SDG interviewed the target customer set to determine their needs, frustrations, and satisfactions with the current trucking and transportation supply options. We also sought information on what was needed for our client to secure continued business from these customers for many years in the future. We then assessed alternative strategic options for the company to meet the changing demands of the marketplace and redefined the business model to enhance customer service, to improve reliability, and to expand their delivery system.
