Strategic Decision and Risk Management

Decisions that matter

The strategic decisions that you participate in shape the direction and success of your organization. The ability to make effective, critical decisions is a valuable and crucial skill that helps make managers, executives, and corporate leaders indispensable. Quality decisions that result in cost, time, and resource savings will benefit the company and your career.

Leading the way

The Stanford Certificate Program in Strategic Decision and Risk Management, developed in partnership with Strategic Decisions Group, gives you the decision making tools you need to be an invaluable leader - whether the decisions you make are about capacity investments, international market entry, marketing programs, pricing policy, major customer and supplier contracts, acquisitions, new products, or R&D investments.

Learn how to:

  • Make quality decisions that generate more value
  • Work on the right problem, in the best way, with the right people
  • Embrace risk and uncertainty for competitive advantage
  • Use design innovation principles to generate better alternatives
  • Establish clear value metrics to untangle conflicting goals and risk tolerance
  • Avoid common behavioral and analytic decision failures
  • Make good decisions under pressure
  • Base decisions on participative dialogue
  • Understand enterprise risk from the shareholder value perspective
  • Gain true commitment to effective execution from the key players in implementation

The program consists of a curriculum of noncredit short courses and combines Stanford University's academic and research depth with the decision and risk management expertise and track record of Strategic Decisions Group's 20-plus years in strategy and decision consulting. Participants have the flexibility of taking individual courses or earning the Stanford Strategic Decision and Risk Management Certificate by completing two core courses and four electives.
