Project Profile
Enabling Successful Deregulation in Japan

SDG has partnered with Mizuho Securities to provide services for most of the Japanese electric and gas utilities. The work has primarily focused on developing proprietary price forecasting capabilities for a liberalizing market in Japan and developing the ability to make high-quality decisions in that market. This work has taken into account the full range of market and regulatory uncertainty that exists. It also looks at the impact these market changes and alternative strategies will have on the valuation of the generation assets and retail business across Japan.

We’ve also been involved in specific asset strategy and asset decision support and development of overseas investment evaluation and partnership opportunities companies are pursuing. And we’re helping develop partnerships with North American companies for the Japanese utilities in merchant generation, energy trading, and retail services.
