Strategic Portfolio Decisions

— filed under:

Work through a case exercise in this 2½-day course to learn and apply the powerful tools that comprise the Strategic Portfolio Management Process.

Portfolio management decisions rely on the same foundations of Decision Quality, the Dialogue Decision Process, and decision analysis, but the context of optimal resource allocation across many assets is significantly different from strategy or single-decision problems.

The objective of this course is to introduce participants to a Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) process. Topics include:

  • The value proposition and motivation for an SPM process
  • Language and basic methodology as it pertains to SPM
  • Portfolio roll-up and evaluation
  • Interpretation of results.

Participants work through a case exercise to conduct a small-scale asset valuation and portfolio analysis, and become familiar with tools, language, and principles of SPM.

Offered through the Stanford Center for Professional Development in partnership with SDG.
