Kirk Palmer
Kirk Palmer leads the Technology & Communications Practice of SDG. He has experience in new business creation, M&A and alliances, product and portfolio strategy, and R&D management as well as corporate and business unit strategy.
Recently, Dr. Palmer led the development of a 3G strategy for a leading European mobile operator, helping the company to optimize technology and rollout decisions and to define a winning product and services roadmap.
In other engagements, he helped an Internet company launch a targeted advertising business, assisted a semiconductor company in identifying an acquisition candidate that could best meet its capability and capacity growth ambitions, and worked with a communications equipment company to improve its allocation of R&D resources. His clients include industry leaders from the Fortune 1000 but also innovative smaller firms and start-ups in Silicon Valley.
Before joining SDG, Dr. Palmer worked on marketing and product strategy for a software start-up, one that survived the dot-com crash and is now a thriving public company. He holds a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an AB in physics from Princeton University.
