Managing Director
As managing director, Mary Lea Kirven is responsible for the day-to-day consulting operations of Strategic Decisions Group.
She is chair of the Compensation Committee of the SDG board of directors, a member of the Partner Nominating and Partner Election committees of the board. She was previously SDG’s human resources officer and a consultant with the firm.
Ms. Kirven leads SDG’s recruiting and retention efforts; oversees the review, development, and compensation of partners; works with the financial team to plan and monitor performance; coordinates with office directors to ensure efficient operations and resource management worldwide; and coordinates rapid response to top management issues.
As a consultant, Ms. Kirven worked on strategy development, corporate change management, and portfolio risk analysis projects for clients in the financial services, real estate, oil and gas, utility, and transportation industries.
Before joining SDG, Ms. Kirven was employed by Bankers Trust, where she specialized in structuring and financing leveraged buyouts for companies in a broad range of industries. She was also responsible for a $350 million loan portfolio of highly leveraged credits.
Ms. Kirven received a BA in economics from Smith College and an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
